Titanic Quarter Tour

Titanic Quarter is the authentic home of Titanic’s legend, where her memory lives on in the fabric of Belfast’s maritime heritage. This iconic 185-acre site on the banks of River Lagan, where 3 rivers meet, was once home to the largest shipbuilding industry in the world. In what was one of Europe’s largest urban waterfront regeneration schemes, Titanic Quarter has been transformed in a £2bn investment, from the graveyard of those shipyards into a new mixed-use maritime quarter, with a mile of water frontage, the wonderful Titanic Belfast museum at its heart.

EXPERIENCE BELFAST’S MARITIME HERITAGE

Let us take you on a voyage of discovery along the scenic maritime mile and this incredible outdoor museum that is Titanic Quarter today. We explain Belfast’s long maritime & industrial history through its dry docks, quays, slipways and harbours. The highlights on this walk are many and include the ‘Big Fish’, otherwise known as ‘the Salmon of Knowledge’, the Lagan Weir Bridge (a transformative civil engineering project), the largest free standing cranes in the world Samson & Goliath, the SSE Arena, Belfast Harbour Marina, SS Nomadic (the last remaining White Star Line vessel), HMS Caroline (one of the oldest surviving Royal Navy ships), maritime related public art installations such as Soundyard, the Bouys, the Kit and Titanica. The design story behind stunning new architecture of Titanic Belfast is fascinating, as it encapsulates so many aspects of the myth and legend that is RMS Titanic. The Titanic Hotel, was previously the nerve centre of the shipyard, where decisions were made which changed the course of shipbuilding as visionary designers created the largest, most innovative and luxurious ships of the time. This is a museum in itself where you can relax in comfort after your tour

Find out how the area has been transformed from industrial wasteland to a television production wonderland and is now one of Belfast’s most desirable residential waterfront developments, with some 20,000 people living, working and visiting the Titanic Quarter daily. Explore the six giant stained glass windows depicting some of the most iconic scenes from Game of Thrones.

HEAR THE STORY OF THE WORLD’S MOST FAMOUS WHILE SIPPING A WHISKEY AT TITANIC DISTILLERS

Why not consider incorporating our tour with a whiskey tasting event at Titanic Distillers. Hear more stories of Titanic’s construction and of the men who designed and built her while enjoying a Titanic whiskey (ICE not recommended). The Titanic distillery is located on the site of the Thompson Dock and Pumphouse, where the fated ocean liner was built in the early 20th century. Inspired by the people who worked in Belfast’s shipyard more than a century ago – you will now be able to walk in their footsteps in the very pump-house and dry dock that represent such an authentic part of the Titanic story and indeed the history of Belfast. Visitors to the Pumphouse will clock in, as workers did a century ago, to view the workings of the distillery and hear the story of Belfast’s whiskey tradition, why it disappeared and how it has returned with the city’s first working whiskey distillery in almost 90 years.
